What we will accomplish

Foundation

Upon the conclusion of Workshop 1 it became abundantly clear that there isn't one place that stakeholders who want to sustainably integrate their blue economy initiatives can go to get the support needed integrate their solutions.

By considering the statement: how might we create an empowering hub/pipeline/ecosystem that accelerates innovative projects in the Blue Economy sector of the CARICOM region?  We have identified that this ecosystem would need to achieve the outcomes below.

Enable projects that enter into this Blue Economy ecosystem to:

1) Become investment or grant ready,
2) Get training on leveraging IP & innovation tools,
3) Get access to key resources, business model development, partners,
4) Join a community of inspiring leaders who are serious about establishing the Blue Economy,
5) Creatively collaborate with projects in other industries.

With the help of a team of experts WIPO will create a cohort training program that is specifically designed to guide projects in the region to achieve the above outcomes.

Where you come in

But for this training progam integrate itself into the cultural ecosystem of the CARICOM region we need your help. We do not want to make the same mistake that other programs have made and ignore realities on the ground.

In order to make these outcomes achievable in the CARICOM region, we need your help with developing concepts around 3 core topics that would lead up to the Cohort Training Program.
s3
It needs an area for
 placing and developing ideas.
s1
A networking area committed
to blue economy initiatives
s2
Collaborative readiness effort to qualify for Cohort Training Program.
In workshop 2 we will create three groups that will work on creating concepts around these topics. It will be up to you to determine how these topics need to be structured in order to create the adoption of the Cohort Training Program in the CARICOM region.

Enable all projects related to the Blue Economy to:
1) Become investment or grant ready,
2) Get training on leveraging IP & innovation tools,
3) Get access to key resources, business model development, partners,
4) Join a community of inspiring leaders who are serious about establishing the Blue Economy,
5) Creatively collaborate with projects in other industries.

Our vision is to create a self-sustaining and culturally relevant innovation hub co-designed by practitioners actively working in the CARICOM region to achieve the desired outcomes as stated above.

  1. Blue Economy community is fragmented.
  2. Finding the right people and organizations to collaborate with.
  3. Uncovering the right cultural and societal structure to make the hub accessible and self sustaining.

We will be using design thinking methodologies of empathy, ideation, consolidation, testing and prototyping to develop the societal and cultural structure for the hub while cultivating a culture of innovation and connecting the community to the endless possibilities the region has to offer.
